This project examines a local high street and its formation into a non-place; it has become vacant where there is little evidence of human presence. Although there is customer demand for shop accessibility seven days a week, this is not portrayed in the series.

Typically what draws us into the act of trade is the shops’ façade, luring consumers in through styling, colours and attractive signage. However, it is not this front facing veneer that draws my attention, but the very body of the buildings.

The turbulent economic climate has dramatically changed shops like the weather, their fronts undergo quick and surgical like alterations. Their identities become a blur, yet the exteriors stay true, remaining silent keepers of the times.
